The position interacts with all aspects of Crystal Cave—Executive Director, staff, guests, school and camp groups and volunteers. The successful candidate must fully embraces the teaching philosophy of scientifically accepted facts of geology, biology, and conservation as well as the guest centric approach pioneered by the Disney Institute. The position will work some weekends during our season. This is a year-round position even though we are closed to the general public and groups during the winter. We are very flexible for winter vacations.

Crystal Cave is located in Spring Valley, a rural town located between River Falls Wisconsin and Menomonie Wisconsin and only 1 hour from Minneapolis / St. Paul Minnesota.

Assistant Manager / Senior Interpretive Naturalist - Full time, Year Round Position
Embrace the Disney model of guest centric service.
Assist in supervising staff, assist in training.
Communicate job expectations, assign jobs and tours to staff and evaluate job results.
Assist in the design and maintenance of our new 7 acre prairie.
Develop and lead new interpretive programs (above ground)
Assist in managing various gardens
Act as Manager on Duty in our gift store.
Liaison with schools and summer camps.
To conduct an informative, educational and entertaining tour of Crystal Cave (comprehensive training is provided).
Assist in the general maintenance and upkeep of the grounds, gift shop and cave.
Perform other tasks as identified by Executive Director or General Manager.
At least two years previous experience managing staff
BS or BA degree in environmental education, environmental studies, natural science, hospitality, tourism or related field
Not required: geology degree (we'll teach you cave geology)
High degree of organizational skills
Strong public speaking and program leadership ability
Communicate effectively with large groups of people of various ages and educational, ethnic backgrounds.
Must be in good physical condition to be able to descend and ascend several flights of stairs and ramps several times each day, stand for extended periods of time, lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
